Whale watchingThe annual migration of the humpback whale is happening right now until the end of October. There are a number of different tour companies – a number of them leave from the Gold Coast Spit. Alternatively you can head down to Byron for the day as there are a number of tours departing there regularly. Be sure to shop around as there are always deals on, and they offer a variety of experiences. Some will be more private on smaller vessels, others are on larger vessels and are full service with lunch provided, so you can choose an option that suits your family and budget best.

The Gold Coast is well known for its surfer lifestyle, so why not learn from some of the best and tick one more thing off your bucket list. surfingSurf lessons and board hire shops are located near almost every beach on the coast. It’s recommended that you book as the classes often fill up, especially as the weather heats up. It’s worth checking in at reception to see if we have any specials on offer while you’re staying, otherwise we can point you to the closest schools and hire shops.

The Gold Coast Eisteddfod was originally run in 1982. It was a part of Tropicarnival which was the coasts first festival. It is the largest competition of its kind in the country. Around 158 schools and over 70 dance studios take part competing in segments such as solo and group dance, piano, strings, brass and wind instrumental groups, orchestras, choral. Last year over 70,000 competitors took the stage over the seven weeks.gold coast eistedford

The competition is held at The Arts Centre and the Robina and Albert Waterways Community Centres. The eisteddfod runs from Friday the 28th of July – starting with the music events, and finishes on the 14th of September.

When most people think of the Gold Coast they think of the picture perfect beaches and the theme parks, but have you been to them all yet?
With Dreamworld and Movieworld being your more adrenaline fuelled parks, Dreamworld has its own water park, plus it’s home to tiger island where you can get up close and personal with the Bengal tiger. rollercoasterMovieworld is full of rides and attractions and as it’s a WarnerBros theme park you’ve got a range of movie entertainment and themed rides to enjoy. Wet’n’Wild is it’s own water park, and SeaWorld is the premier marine animal park in Australia. So you’ve got plenty of options to suit everyone.

Plus if you want to go to Movieworld, Wet’n’Wild or SeaWorld – they are owned by the same company so you can get an unlimited pass to the three for the duration of your holiday!

If you’re lucky enough to be on the coast at the moment, hopefully you had a chance to check out the Gold Coast Marathon, Viva Surfers Paradise, the Kokoda Challenge and the Sydney Comedy Festival.
