Burleigh Headland National Park – Tallebudgera Creek Activities – Oktoberfest

If you want a relaxing beach side holiday, with a national park, beach and creek (depending on whether you like waves or calm water), and dozens of restaurants to choose from, Burleigh is the place to be.

Plus there is always something happening around Burleigh Heads, and this month we had the Swell Festival and Saltfest Surf Festival. That’s the great thing about the coast, there is always a big event on each month – if not a handful of them. So you’ll always have something to do.

 

Burleigh is one of the most unique beaches on the coast as it has its own national park on the headland. So you can laze on the sand soaking up some sunshine, go for a swim or a surf, or walk around the headland exploring through nature.

 

There are 3 levels of walkways, burleigh national park signthe lazy stroll around the headland, a slightly more difficult walk where you can catch glimpse of the coastline, and a harder walk with a lookout. At a slow pace, most would be able to do all 3 as they aren’t too long or steep (just a few stairs) – plus the views are spectacular.

 

While you’re there, why not head around the headland to Tallebudgera creek for a more peaceful swim, popular with families as you can get away from the waves and play in the water – plus if you’re lucky you might even spot some dolphins.

 

If you want to explore, why not hire a kayak or stand up paddle board and explore Tallebudgera creek – Tallebudgera creek kayakit’s can be a bit of a workout, but it’s a lot of fun checking out a few of the rivers, claim a sandbank for yourself and have a laugh – just make sure you watch the tide as the current can get quite strong at certain times of the day.

 

We can’t all make it to Germany, so why not head to Surfers Paradise for Oktoberfest Surfers Paradise held at the Bavarian Haus. Featuring it’s own Oktoberfest band (The Huns), German beers on tab, and a range of German food. The event will be held on the 7th of October at  5:30pm. Tallebudgera Creek – Australian PGA – Valentines Day Package

There is always so much to do on the beautiful Gold Coast, and summer is almost here. Perhaps you are the sporting type and are here for the PGA Championships, or just have a competitive spirit and want to challenge your friends and family to a game of Barefoot Bowls. Maybe you want to enjoy a peaceful holiday beach side and want to spend your time on the beach and enjoy the variety of food on offer – there is something for everyone in Burleigh Heads. With it’s own national park, stunning beach and estuary, plus it’s close to the airport and the city centre – you’ll never be bored.

It’s a beautiful spot with plenty of options activities available depending on your interests. As this estuary hooks up directly to the ocean occasionally you’ll be lucky enough to spot a dolphin or two! It’s also the perfect place to take the kids for a swim as there are no waves, so you can have a much gentler swim – just make sure keep to the patrolled zones.

Australian PGA Championships

If you happen to be on the Gold Coast December 1-4th you’ll want to attend the Australian PGA Championships held at the Royal Pines on the Gold Coast. This 4 day golfing event is a world renowned 72 Hole Stroke Play Event. Will Nathan Holman be able to defend his title? Be there to witness the action and be one of the first to know.

 

The event runs from 6am-7pm Thursday and Friday, and from 6:30am-5pm on Saturday and Sunday. The event has multiple catering options so you won’t go hungry! Keep in mind you don’t have to attend all four days, you can buy a one-day, two-day or season pass.

 

 

 

You can also visit on the 28th and 29th of November to watch the practise days, or watch the Pro-Am competition on the 30th of November. Both of these events are free to the general public.

What’s On in November:
If you are on the Gold Coast in November, hopefully you’ll have had a chance to check out some of the fantastic events that have been on. From the various celebrations of Melbourne Cup to the Pan Pacific Masters Games and the Gold Coast Multicultural Festival, these events are always a big hit.Don’t forget Schoolies is on in Surfers Paradise as well, with the 19th-26th of November being QLD Schoolies, and the 26th of November – 10th of December is Schoolies for NSW and VIC students. So just keep those dates in mind while planning your holidays.

They are a modern fusion of Asian street food culture, with a focus on fresh ingredients. If you have kids, they also have a wonderful kid’s menu – and it’s very reasonably priced.

Sometimes you want a special and romantic evening – and you simply can’t go past Oskars Restaurant. With perhaps the most spectacular views on the Gold Coast, and a delicious modern Australian and seafood menu you won’t be disappointed. The restaurant has won numerous awards and it’s recommended that you make a reservation.  If you can time it right, and visit during a sunset and moon rise – it’s truly a spectacular view watching the sun set over the hinterland with the light bouncing over the ocean, only to see the moon rise shortly after.

CHRISTMAS is fast approaching so now is the season to be jolly. If you’re staying at Gemini Court in early December, make sure you head along to the Community Christmas Carols happening up and down the coast. It’s a great event for the kids, and the night always features excellent local talent. It’s also likely Santa will stop-off to say g’day, and fireworks and laser shows may also feature this year.

The Kids Family Fun Fair will open at 4pm and includes kid’s activities, animal nursery, jumping castles, face painters, exhibitors and stage shows. Carols under the Stars kicks off at 6pm. There will also be a fireworks display and a visit by Santa. Free shuttle buses will be available from Burleigh Heads State School, Stockland Shopping Centre, Treetops and a park and ride shuttle from Robina Town Centre car park.

Family fun from 3pm with carols starting at 6pm featuring an amazing line up of performers including the incredible Marina Prior and the ever talented Denis Walter supported by The Boogie Woogies, the Gold Coast Youth Orchestra and the Gold Coast Choir. There will be plenty of food stalls in the park and a spectacular fireworks display at the end of the concert.
