The Queensland Junior Titles is the second surfing event of the year for the Under 18 and Under 16 divisions. This event is an important qualification for selection into the Queensland State Junior Surfing Team – so excitement and talent will be at their peak. This event is held on the 9th and 10th of September and could be held anywhere between The Southport Spit all the way down to Duranbah. You’ll need to call the event hotline on (07) 30303 6388 each morning to find the exact location as the location will move dependant on conditions.
If you’re looking for something different why not make the most of the Gold Coast waterways and estuaries and hire a boat or a BBQ pontoon boat? There are a number of vendors that hire boats, the closest being on the Tweed River. It makes for a wonderful day out cruising the water and will allow you to see a different side of the Gold Coast.
A BBQ pontoon boat is another excellent choice and you’ll create some wonderful memories cruising along, jumping in for a quick dip whenever you find a nice spot and BBQing to your hearts content.
For a cultural night out you can’t miss Opera on the Beach held between the 21st and 30th of September. Coolangatta Beach will be transformed into an Egyptian wonderland for a production of Aida. The story covers a royal love triangle and even our local surf life savers will be getting involved.
There are only 6 performances each starting at 6:30pm right on the beach. Prices start at $35 per person for C Reserve and if you want the best seats in the house, tickets are going for $90 each. You’ll want to be quick to make sure you get a good spot.
This month the Gold Coast is lucky enough to host Cooly Rocks On and the Broadbeach Country Music Festival. These are just two of the events on this month – the coast always has dozens of things to do and see while you are here. And there is no better place to stay than in the heart of Burleigh. Close to everything, and offers a more relaxing vibe, plus you’ll love the dining options that are all within walking distance.
