One of the best features of Burleigh, other than being one of the best beaches on the coast, is the range of parks nearby.
Burleigh Head National Park is one of the most popular, it has a beautiful lookout and a number of walks for a variety of fitness levels. Whether you want to go for a stroll through the forest, or you want challenge yourself a little with a more intense walk, this is the place to be. One of the highlights is the Tumgun Lookout, which has spectacular views of the coast. Although it takes a little more effort to get to the lookout, it’s easy enough for most if you go slow and steady – just note there are some stairs to get to the top.
Justin’s Park is another popular spot, it has a great playground for the kids, an open space area for kicking a ball around, and is next to some amazing shops if you want an ice cream or some fish and chips on the beach. Plus, on a Sunday night the bongos and flame throwers come out to play, so it’s worth hanging around to be a part of the atmosphere.
At the other end of the beach is the Mick Schamburg park which is on the boarder of Burleigh and Miami. Another spectacular lookout that gives you the full view of the Gold Coast coastline, with also has a smaller playground.
Plus, for all the fitness fans, dotted along the coastline between the National Park and the Mick Schamburg park are a selection of fitness stations. From chin up bars, to balance beams to leg press machines – this walk has it all. Or you can simply enjoy the sand between your toes and go for a stroll on the beach.
Broadbeach is well known for its music events. With two iconic events you won’t want to miss:
Blues on Broadbeach is held this month from the 18th-21st of May and will feature headline artists Bonnie Tyler, Ian Moss, the Slim Jim Phantom Trio and Harts.
The Broadbeach Country Music Festival is held a little later in the year from the 28th-30th of July and features artists like Kasey Chambers, Troy Cassar-Daley and The Wolfe Brothers.
